Sixty-Fifth Collection

A tree under autumn sun… where I spent three days on a silent retreat. I did not miss talking and I was able to see and listen so much more.

Lady Mendl’s Tea Salon in Manhattan; chic and full of beautiful corners. Met an old friend to talk about the past and saw time passed by quietly.

Indian Mound Park, Englewood, Florida. One of the oldest inhabited areas of Florida, where the indigenous lived and fished. Fishing boats still launch from this area along with the wildlife swooping and diving for fish. This heron stood watching and waiting…

Winter in Florida provides a unique perspective and this is the Wolf moon in January 2023, the first full moon of the year. I loved how it reflected in the shallows of the water as the sun set behind me, providing the soft colours in the trees and sky.

A moment from my first expedition snowshoeing at Crawford Conservation area, Ontario. The sun playing peek a boo shines enough light to enjoy this view. Snow makes any scene beautiful and I’m glad I got to capture this moment.

This was taken after visiting this magnificent church during evening stroll in Lisbon, church lights were on early contrasting with still bluish sky.

Venice, at sunset from the Fondamenta Nove a look towards the island of San Michele, which is the splendid historic cemetery of Venice.

“It is the life of the crystal, the architect of the flake, the fire of the frost, the soul of the sunbeam. This crisp winter air is full of it.”
by John Burroughs (1837 - 1921) American naturalist and essayist.

My father was a wonderful artist. I did not inherit any of his talent. In this photo, I wanted to try and capture the feel of an artist making their first stroke with the paintbrush.

A charming stone house nestled in a Tuscany village where I met the kindest host and hostess. They open their house for a retreat facilitated by Sif Orellana for her famous sisterhood retreat. One of the best trips I had in recent years.

Walking the streets of Port Hope, Ontario Canada in very bright sunlight. The windows of this corner cafe provided a spectacular and colourful reflection of the period buildings in this old Ontario town.

On my Amsterdam walk I saw this house. It’s build with a very sharp corner, at the right point it seems almost flat.

Downtown Toronto in all its glory on a -29°C day! Trees are majestic with or without leaves. To me snow decorates the trees in winters and that’s what I’ve captured here with the city backdrop.

Late afternoon photo of the painted ladies houses with the the city scape on the background and the park at the foreground.

Verona, Palazzo Maffei House Museum, the internal staircase. A casket within a casket in the good living room of the city.

A glorious winter’s day in central Alberta. Diamond frost on the trees with a bright sun peeking through.

“When your barn is well filled all snug and secure, Be thankful to God and remember the poor.”
This inscription (1863) is carved in stone on a wall at Rockwood Academy, Rockwood, Ontario, Canada.

An art installation in Bath, UK representing different towns in the area. Walking by I couldn’t resist the shadows it was creating.

The view from an urban precipice. It is always thrilling to ride on a glass elevator. This was the disorienting view from one of the upper floors looking down.

A beautiful view over the city of Zürich on a cold and more or less dull day. However, sometimes exactly those dull days enhance the beauty of a city.
The spot from where I took this picture was very near to the main building of the University of Zürich.
