I am an amateur photographer since 2020 when I joined the Iphone Photography Academy online courses as an outlet from the intensity of working in healthcare during the beginning of the Pandemic; now photography is my passion.
Winning photos
This spectacular bed of tulips provided a beautiful array of colour at one of the gateway intersections of my home town known locally as the âFeel Good Townâ. This low angle photo provided leading lines to the gazebo in the background.
69th CollectionThis window reflection in Niagara Falls, Canada gives an ghostly appearance as if the people are approaching the limousine. I loved how this turned out using my iPhone 12pro max.
69th CollectionThis was a wonderful hand-washing station in the Caribbean where the mirrors reflected architecture behind me. As I was setting up the shot, the girl with the red hair walked into the frame and turned to look at herself in the mirror just as I took the picture.
68th CollectionThis photo was taken on the Celebrity Apex cruise ship. People were admiring the fading sunset from the balconies. Holding my iPhone against the glass window provided a stunning mirror image reflection.
68th CollectionThis photo was taken from our balcony on the Celebrity Apex cruise ship as we docked at Key West. The red building is the old Customs House and stood high and proud amongst the rest of the town. The rising sun added its own spectacle to the landscape.
67th CollectionI call this photograph âReturn to the Seaâ. The seagulls were flying to the ocean during the last rays of light and I loved how the light reflects on the waves and the sand.
67th CollectionThe orange platform restaurant is called the âMagic Carpetâ on the Celebrity Apex cruise ship and hangs over the side suspended over the ocean. I rested my camera against the window to capture this mirror image as we sailed out of Fort Lauderdale.
67th CollectionMy husband and I were sat at a red stop light beside the Old City Hall, Victoria, British Columbia and across the street was this wonderful reflection in the window of the modern building. I love the juxtaposition of the old and new in this capture.
66th CollectionSpending winter on the Gulf of Mexico provides opportunities for sunsets over the ocean. This particular evening, the whole sky turned orange and reflected in the water and lit up the sand, turning it to gold in front of me. I bent down as low as I could without getting the phone cameras wet to get this shot.
66th CollectionFor this photograph, I turned my iPhone upside down and rested it on the shells and focussed on the middle ground to obtain this depth of field. I love how the sunbeam provides a leading line to the shells.
66th CollectionIndian Mound Park, Englewood, Florida. One of the oldest inhabited areas of Florida, where the indigenous lived and fished. Fishing boats still launch from this area along with the wildlife swooping and diving for fish. This heron stood watching and waitingâŚ
65th CollectionWinter in Florida provides a unique perspective and this is the Wolf moon in January 2023, the first full moon of the year. I loved how it reflected in the shallows of the water as the sun set behind me, providing the soft colours in the trees and sky.
65th CollectionWalking the streets of Port Hope, Ontario Canada in very bright sunlight. The windows of this corner cafe provided a spectacular and colourful reflection of the period buildings in this old Ontario town.
65th CollectionSunset over Bay of Quinte, Ontario Canada
I watched in awe as this magnificent sky developed and increased in beauty as the sun set behind the trees, casting shadows across the lawnâŚ
During the recent snow storm I watched as the howling wind blew the freshly fallen snow off the rooves and swirled around in the air, giving it a second life to what we call a whiteout!
64th CollectionOn. Sunday afternoon drive, I couldnât resist capturing the glow of late afternoon sun on the tree tops; they shone like gold.
Taken with iPhone 12 Pro Max
This is a park close to where I live and it parallels the northern shore of Lake Ontario. This Autumn, the colours of the Canadian Maples have been exquisite. I love how this image displays the kaleidoscope of colours of the trees and the blue of the lake. The bench provides a resting place to sit and absorb the beauty all around.
62nd CollectionThis avenue of trees is my favourite part of my daily walk, the huge branches provide shade from the summer sun. I loved how the mist on this occasion provided an additional atmosphere of mystique.
62nd CollectionSurveying her domain as the sun sets in the Western sky, and resting peacefully after a playful day. Her trusting demeanour speaks to the love and devotion she has to her home and loved ones.
61st CollectionDriving around the countryside in late summer, a field full of hay bales is always a delight. It represents successful harvest and healthy stock for the winter months.
