I am an amateur photographer since 2020 when I joined the Iphone Photography School online courses as an outlet from the intensity of working in healthcare during the beginning of the Pandemic; now photography is my passion.

Winning photos

Macro photography using the moment macro lens attachment. This is the first appearance of a Flox flower deep inside the unraveling leaves.

Puddle Reflection. On a grey day, after a storm, black and white worked really well for this dramatic puddle reflection.

Abstract of a peony bloom. Every year these soft, flowing petals provide an early summer thrill to any garden.

The striking purple and white of this Iris against the soft orange of the evening sky proved to be the perfect contrast of colours. The low angle photo provided the sky as the backdrop for these stunning flowers.

This spectacular bed of tulips provided a beautiful array of colour at one of the gateway intersections of my home town known locally as the “Feel Good Town”. This low angle photo provided leading lines to the gazebo in the background.

This window reflection in Niagara Falls, Canada gives an ghostly appearance as if the people are approaching the limousine. I loved how this turned out using my iPhone 12pro max.

This was a wonderful hand-washing station in the Caribbean where the mirrors reflected architecture behind me. As I was setting up the shot, the girl with the red hair walked into the frame and turned to look at herself in the mirror just as I took the picture.

This photo was taken on the Celebrity Apex cruise ship. People were admiring the fading sunset from the balconies. Holding my iPhone against the glass window provided a stunning mirror image reflection.

This photo was taken from our balcony on the Celebrity Apex cruise ship as we docked at Key West. The red building is the old Customs House and stood high and proud amongst the rest of the town. The rising sun added its own spectacle to the landscape.

I call this photograph “Return to the Sea”. The seagulls were flying to the ocean during the last rays of light and I loved how the light reflects on the waves and the sand.

The orange platform restaurant is called the ‘Magic Carpet’ on the Celebrity Apex cruise ship and hangs over the side suspended over the ocean. I rested my camera against the window to capture this mirror image as we sailed out of Fort Lauderdale.

My husband and I were sat at a red stop light beside the Old City Hall, Victoria, British Columbia and across the street was this wonderful reflection in the window of the modern building. I love the juxtaposition of the old and new in this capture.

Spending winter on the Gulf of Mexico provides opportunities for sunsets over the ocean. This particular evening, the whole sky turned orange and reflected in the water and lit up the sand, turning it to gold in front of me. I bent down as low as I could without getting the phone cameras wet to get this shot.

For this photograph, I turned my iPhone upside down and rested it on the shells and focussed on the middle ground to obtain this depth of field. I love how the sunbeam provides a leading line to the shells.

Indian Mound Park, Englewood, Florida. One of the oldest inhabited areas of Florida, where the indigenous lived and fished. Fishing boats still launch from this area along with the wildlife swooping and diving for fish. This heron stood watching and waiting…

Winter in Florida provides a unique perspective and this is the Wolf moon in January 2023, the first full moon of the year. I loved how it reflected in the shallows of the water as the sun set behind me, providing the soft colours in the trees and sky.

Walking the streets of Port Hope, Ontario Canada in very bright sunlight. The windows of this corner cafe provided a spectacular and colourful reflection of the period buildings in this old Ontario town.

Sunset over Bay of Quinte, Ontario Canada
I watched in awe as this magnificent sky developed and increased in beauty as the sun set behind the trees, casting shadows across the lawn…

During the recent snow storm I watched as the howling wind blew the freshly fallen snow off the rooves and swirled around in the air, giving it a second life to what we call a whiteout!

On. Sunday afternoon drive, I couldn’t resist capturing the glow of late afternoon sun on the tree tops; they shone like gold.
