93rd CollectionAcrobatics on top of the Bennerley Viaduct, Ilkeston, Derbyshire UK - Base Plates: The structure “floats.” Resting on top of each brick pier bases are 4 large cast iron base plates. These plates are not tied into the bases in any shape or form. They simply rest on the pier bases, held in place by gravity alone.
93rd CollectionThe Cromford Canal - ran 14+1⁄2 miles (23.3 kilometres) from Cromford to the Erewash Canal in Derbyshire, England with a branch to Pinxton. Built by William Jessop with the assistance of Benjamin Outram, its alignment included four tunnels and 14 locks.
93rd CollectionElvaston Castle Derby UK - The centrepiece of the estate is the Grade II* Listed Elvaston Castle. The castle has been neglected and is in need of restoration. Due to its condition, the building is not open to the public, and since 2008 has been listed on the Buildings at Risk Register.[4][5] Derbyshire County Council estimates the castle and estate requires significant investment for both restoration and to support its longer-term maintenance.
93rd CollectionCalke Abbey, Ashby-De-La-Zouch, England, a secure room holding all the families history.A visit to Calke Abbey, like so many National Trust places, is a step back in time. But Calke is not presented like other country houses of its day. Paintwork is fading and peeling; vast collections of personal belongings are left as they were found. Here, the past is remarkably well preserved, in estate buildings, archaeology and the family’s belongings.
